On April 11th, City of Edmonton Administration announced they are projecting an 8.7% property tax increase for working families in Edmonton. This is a hard pill to swallow at a time where everything is getting more expensive. This increase doesn’t even allow the city to replace deteriorating infrastructure or replace aging capital assets let alone pursue any projects badly needed in our city. At a time when the cost of everything is rising this increase just covers that rising cost and nothing else.
This news is even harder to take when you think the Provincial Government owes the city $143.3 million. If they simply paid their bills that increase would be reduced to 1.5%! Please sign the petition and share it widely and we can call on the government to pay their bills! We are saying enough is enough! Pay your bill now and stop downloading YOUR COSTS onto Edmonton’s working families!
